YMTA Maritime Volunteers

The success of YMTA and the realization of our goals of bringing the maritime world to the classroom and exposing students to a variety of maritime careers depends completely on volunteers.  Reading about a marine biologist is much different than actually talking with a marine biologist.  Reading about operating a tugboat is a far cry from spending time aboard a tugboat and interacting with the crew. Making a decision on a career path for a student becomes much easier when a volunteer visits the classroom and tells the good, bad and ugly about their job.

For those of you in the maritime industry that have enjoyed a rewarding and fulfilling career, we ask you consider volunteering your time as a way of giving back.  Your tenure and insight about your chosen career provides students with a "real world", "hands on" experience not offered in books or the classroom.

A multitude of opportunities are available for individuals and organizations willing to help YMTA bring the sea to the classroom for students in Washington State.  We ask you to take a moment and sign up as a volunteer.  It's a rewarding experience!
